Austin’s ZACH Theatre recently announced the Tony® Award-winning musical Million Dollar Quartet, inspired by the true story of musical icons, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins coming to the stage, and the cast has finally been announced.
Million Dollar Quartet plays ZACH’s Topfer Theatre July 26 – September 3, 2017 and is directed by Dave Steakley, Producing Artistic Director of ZACH Theatre. Before Million Dollar Quartet plays Austin, it will open at the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City June 27 – July 1, 2017, in a collaboration between ZACH Theatre (Austin, TX) and the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma (Oklahoma City, OK) using the same cast and creatives for both engagements.
They came together to make music. And together they made history. Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins joined forces for one night only on December 4, 1956 at Sun Records Studio in Memphis, TN for the greatest jam-session ever. Now, audiences can relive this legendary night and rock along to such classics as “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and “Great Balls of Fire.” There will surely be a “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” in the Topfer Theatre for this epic night of music from rock n’ roll’s greatest icons.
The cast of the production, written by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott, includes Cole as Elvis Presley, Billy Cohen as Carl Perkins, Corbin Mayer as Johnny Cash, Gavin Rohrer as Jerry Lee Lewis, Jeff Jeffers as Sam Phillips (ZACH’s The Great Society), Emily Farr as Dyanne, Adam Egizi as Brother Jay, Zachary Yanez (ZACH’s One Man, Two Guvnors) as Fluke.
Age Recommendation: Six and up.
