Houston foodies have become accustomed to restaurants vying for their brunch reservations. La Table Houston, however, has set a high bar for what a delicious and entertaining brunch should be.

So, we’ve put together a highlight reel of four reasons your brunch will be better at La Table Houston.

1. Brunch Punch

Enough for a group of between two and four, this punch (which comes in seasonal flavors) will have you feeling quite fancy. Served from a silver punch bowl in small monogrammed cups, it makes any occasion seem special. And don’t let the name fool you; this bountiful bowl of punch comes in different flavors and can be served with any meal. Ours had fresh blueberries, raspberries and orange slices and was the perfect cocktail to start us off.

2. Made from Scratch

You’ll be hard pressed to find anything on the menu that isn’t made from scratch. The bread, the sauces and even the ravioli – yes, they are all made in house by Executive Chef Stephen Conklin. There are a few items that are kept on the rotating seasonal menu, but look for new selections each time you visit.

3. Surf and Turf

Fresh seafood is a staple at La Table. Salmon Tartare served with Meyer lemon, tobiko cavier and apple. The dish is simple, but the ingredients are of such high quality that each bite is one to savor. Grilled Branzino with curry emulsion, shitake chutney and saffron purée – if it isn’t the restaurant’s signature dish it should be. Summer or winter menu, the flavors of the dish can carry you through both seasons.

If you are craving a slightly heartier meal, the marinated Hanger Steak served with pepper sauce, French fries, little gem lettuce and mustard should not go unnoticed. The steak is marinated to perfection making this dish definitely worthy of a second visit. You may turn your nose up at the accompaniment of French fries, but do yourself a favor and don’t skip them – their crunchy seasoned excellence will make you happy you didn’t.

4. Ambience

La Table Houston, located on Post Oak in the Galleria area, is beautifully decorated with a distinct French vibe. If you are looking for fine dining, make a reservation for the upstairs restaurant Chateau at La Table. Same Executive Chef, same attention to high quality fresh ingredients, but just slightly more upscale than the casual atmosphere downstairs. Guests can enjoy music on the weekends and bakery items (all made in house) can be purchased throughout the day.
