Looking for the perfect antidote to sitting at a computer all day? Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort located in Boerne might just be the remedy you’re searching for.

Beautiful limestone outcrops, century-old live oak trees, and panoramic views are just a few benefits of spending time at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort. Nestled on 220 acres in the Texas Hill Country, you’ll quickly forget you’re only 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of San Antonio.

The resort, devastated after a large fire in 2017, has recently reopened with a brand-new state-of-the-art clubhouse, nicknamed the “social hub of Tapatio.” The clubhouse is complete with a new restaurant, golf pro shop, fitness center, meeting and banquet rooms, as well as plenty of Texas charm. It is not a coincidence that the décor includes plenty of George Strait memorabilia, because the country music legend is one of the owners of the property.

Tapatio Springs is not a one-hit wonder, the resort has so much to offer couples, families, or large groups. You’ll take Instagram-worthy photos you can’t wait to post, but most of all you’ll make some Texas-sized memories.

Food

Located just off the lobby in the clubhouse, La Cascada Table & Bar is where Executive Chef Gene Moss turns classic made-from-scratch Texas comfort foods into something special. Shrimp and Grits is a menu favorite as are Smokehouse Mac n Cheese and Country Fried Steak. Guests can also enjoy handcrafted cocktails from the bar and live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Don’t forget to have a sip of George Strait’s Código 1530 tequila – several drinks on the menu feature the spirit.

Indoor and outdoor seating is available, and during temperate weather overhead garage-style doors open the entire restaurant to the outdoors. There is also concert-style grass seating available right outside the restaurant for the resort’s many concerts and outdoor events.

Golf

Known as one of the top 20 golf courses in Texas, The Resort Course at Tapatio Springs recently underwent over $2 million dollars of improvements by world-renowned golf course architect Tripp Davis. The course has gorgeous Hill Country views and is challenging enough for seasoned golfers, but not so challenging that players of all levels won’t enjoy it.

Wellness

Want to have a spa day, but you’re tired of the same old treatments? Why not book a massage in an authentic salt cave at the resort’s Puresól Spa. Offering a pure micro-climate environment, a salt cave massage will be a one of a kind experience. Guests can also get a workout or two in at Tapatio’s fitness centers or relax at the adults-only pool. Families can be part of the fun as well at the resort-style pool featuring a waterslide and poolside restaurant.

Hill Country Fun

Although visitors may be tempted to stay at the resort for some R&R, the Texas Hill Country has a strong pull that shouldn’t be ignored. There is something to be said for exploring Texas on horseback. Slip on your cowboy boots and book an hour, afternoon or whole day of horseback riding at Stricker Trail Rides, located only minutes from the resort.

Downtown Boerne’s “Hill Country Mile,” with its historic Texas charm and southern hospitality, is also worth a visit. The quaint downtown main street is lined with locally owned shops, galleries and restaurants. On afternoons and weekends the area buzzes with activity, but don’t plan on getting there too late, because the streets are quiet again by 10pm.

Earnest Hemingway said, “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world.” Chances are, the iconic writer was talking about wine from France, but these days Texas Hill Country wine has quite a following of its own. With over 50 wineries to explore, hop on the Texas Wine Trail and make a day trip of it – in less than an hour, you’ll have a wine glass in hand.

Getting There

Centrally located right outside San Antonio, Tapatio Springs is drivable from most cities in Texas. A direct flight to San Antonio and a short drive from the airport will have you there in time for your spa day or your tee time.
