The Lake Travis community is getting a little larger as its first film festival heads to the area February 27-March 1 with festival-goers basking in lake views while enjoying some of
the best new independent films.
It’s been a dream of one local Lake Travis resident to infuse her love of filmmaking into the community she calls home. Kat Albert is an independent filmmaker, production company owner and no stranger to film festivals. Her role as a filmmaker includes short films, music videos and documentary films in a career that began after a long and successful career in advertising.
In 2018, the Texas Tech University graduate spearheaded the lofty plan to attract independent filmmakers to the bedroom community just west of Austin’s city limits.
Thus, the Lake Travis Film Festival (LTFF) was created—-an effort to explore stories that have meaning, vision and purpose. And, after receiving over 200 film and script submissions from Texas and across the globe, the LTFF is bringing a touch of Hollywood to the Hill Country.
“Filmmakers and screenwriters both young and old have compelling stories to tell,” says Albert.
LTFF has made the festival inclusive of the community and none more so than Lake Travis High School. The festival will showcase two films created by local students.
The inaugural festival will be a jam-packed weekend filled with world premiers, Q&A sessions with cast and crew members and U.S. premieres that include three feature length films and two short documentary film projects. Over 500 people are expected to attend the 4-day festival
The Lake Travis Film Festival is Feb. 27-March 1 in Lakeway.
