Dance-pop duo Two Friends have already had a massive 2023 takeover, and now they’ve taken over Texas with their exhilarating Planet Two Friends Tour.
Two Friends stopped in Dallas not too long before and recently landed their spaceship in Austin at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on May 28th. They put on an action-packed show with an energetic crowd dancing the night away and a light show that matched every beat. The packed-out crowd sang their hearts out with excitement. Might I add, Saxophonist Casey Fitzpatrick was impressive, hitting every note.
The duo’s name reflects their lifelong bond as both musical collaborators and best friends, a musical creation of longtime companions Matt Halper and Eli Sones. These best friends started from humble beginnings as high school bedroom producers to stardom status.
The Los Angeles-based duo gained popularity for their remixes, original discography, and hour-long “Big Bootie“ mixes (in which they’ve been releasing twice a year since 2012). The duo exploded into the global dance music landscape with their viral remixes of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside,” Blink 182’s “I Miss You,” and of course, their award-winning Big Bootie Mix series. They’ve quickly become one of the most in-demand acts within their space with hundreds of millions of streams added to their name. (You can listen to their latest single “No Saving Us” featuring SAYGRACE HERE).
They’ve also secured a Vegas residency at the Wynn’s XS & Encore, and their very own bi-annual festival, Big Bootie Land. Their Big Bootie Mix series accumulated millions of streams across YouTube and SoundCloud per installment. I can understand why – these mix series are perfect for jamming out while getting ready for a night out, or perfect for your next party playlist. They’ll become your new favorite soundtracks to many great-night-outs.
Two Friends have performed at iconic venues from the likes of Aragon Ballroom, Shrine LA, and most recently Coachella, just to name a few. As they continue building a legacy crossover brand and shoot for more successes, in the end, Matt and Eli will always just be Two Friends.
