A Dream Come True On the AGT Stage

For Lai, receiving the Golden Buzzer was a moment she’ll never forget.

“Getting the Golden Buzzer from Simon was truly a dream come true. I remember watching America’s Got Talent on TV, and now looking back, I’m so grateful that I got to experience what I used to watch from my living room. At that moment, I just felt pure joy. It was like my body started moving all by itself because I was so excited. Standing on that stage with the confetti falling around me felt unreal. It honestly felt like time stopped, even though it was only a few seconds. I was so proud of myself for getting up on that stage and giving it everything I had.”

Finding Her Own Voice

Many viewers have compared her powerful vocals to a young Whitney Houston. While she’s humbled by the comparison, Lai hopes to establish her own identity as an artist.

“It’s such an honor to be compared to Whitney Houston because she’s one of my favorite singers of all time. Being compared to someone like her is something I’m incredibly grateful for. At the same time, I hope that one day people will recognize me as Lai Noelle and my own style. I know that takes time, and I’m excited to keep growing as an artist. I’m really thankful for all the support and love I’ve received.”

Staying Grounded Despite the Spotlight

Despite her overnight success, Lai says fame hasn’t changed her.

“Honestly, I don’t think I’ve changed very much, and I’m glad I haven’t. I’m so grateful for everything that’s happened and for getting to live out a dream. The biggest thing that’s changed is that it’s made me want to work even harder. My social media has grown, and more people recognize me now, but I’m still the same person. I just want to keep learning, improving, and growing into the person and artist I’m meant to become.”

Preparing for the Live Shows

As she prepares for the live shows, she keeps her nerves in perspective.

“I remind myself that being nervous is completely okay. Usually the nerves are strongest right before I walk on stage, but once I start singing, they disappear. I keep practicing, and I also like performing at local venues because it helps me get more comfortable in front of people. I’m really excited to get back on stage, sing my heart out, and have fun!”

More Than Just a Singer

More than anything, Lai hopes audiences see the person behind the voice.

“I hope people get to know who I am, not just as a singer but as a person. I want people to hear my voice and see my heart through my performances. I want to be known as someone who truly loves to sing and is always willing to keep learning and growing. No matter where this journey takes me, I’ll always be grateful for every opportunity and stay open to learning new things.”

A Message to Young Dreamers 

Proud to represent Texas, she also has a message for young dreamers who may be afraid to take that first step.

“I’m so grateful to represent Texas. If I could tell other kids one thing, it would be that it’s okay to step outside your comfort zone. Big dreams can feel scary, but that’s okay. Be patient with yourself, keep practicing, and don’t let mistakes stop you. No one’s journey is perfect, and every performance teaches you something. If you love something, keep working toward it and never give up. You never know where one opportunity can lead.”

A Dream Duet

Asked about her dream duet partner, the answer came quickly.

“I would choose Mariah Carey. She’s one of my favorite artists, and she’s inspired me for so long. Her voice is so beautiful and unique, and I think it would be amazing to sing with her. I listen to her music all the time, and my mom always plays her songs in the car. Recording a duet with her would feel like a dream come true.”

Life Beyond the Microphone

When she’s not singing, Lai enjoys expressing herself in other creative ways.

“I love drawing and animating, especially anime, and I spend a lot of my free time doing that. I also enjoy going on walks with my mom, going to the movies, and spending time with my family. I really like figure skating too. I haven’t been on the ice in a few months, but whenever I skate, I feel so free. I also love sparkly colors, and being creative lets me express myself in a completely different way than music does.”

Favorite Snacks and Simple Joys

Her favorite backstage snacks are just as fun and upbeat as her personality.

“Definitely mangoes, strawberries, and mochi! Those are my favorite snacks. Honestly, I’d probably try putting the fruit inside the mochi just to see what it tastes like. Hehe!”

The Perfect Way to Celebrate

And if she makes it all the way to the America’s Got Talent finals?

“I’m honestly not really a party person. I’d rather spend the evening at home with my mom, dad, and brothers. We’d order pizza, relax, and watch Avatar: The Last Airbender. I know it’s a show and not a movie, but it’s my favorite, and I could watch it over and over again. A family vacation would be fun too, but spending time together at home would be my perfect way to celebrate.”

Whether she’s performing on one of the world’s biggest stages or relaxing at home with her family, Lai Noelle remains grounded, grateful, and focused on becoming the very best version of herself. Those qualities may be every bit as impressive as her remarkable voice.
