Last year, Converse Rubber Tracks celebrated their fourth year at SXSW, making a huge splash with local bands and fans alike. Setting up east of the SXSW madness, their studio made for a hidden respite for the lucky bands who submitted their songs and reels to gain help from famous artists and producers to create, record, and refine tracks that they could then have, as a way for Converse to repay the support they’ve enjoyed from artists throughout the world. (See our coverage HERE).

This year, Rubber Tracks returns, and if you are an artist who needs a break, now is your chance! Converse has thrown the submission gates wide open and now is your chance to win your way to completely produced and professionally edited tracks. Furthermore, this year, Converse Rubber Tracks is in the very heart of SXSW. From their release:

“This year marks the first time the Converse Rubber Tracks pop-up studio will be located at 12th Street Sound in Austin. Built in the shell of an old church, 12th Street Sound studio is a high-end recording studio located near downtown Austin. The church’s new interior was designed by internationally-known studio architect Wes Lachot, and features a spacious live room, multiple iso booths, and a control room that is comfortable and acoustically accurate. Notable artists who have recorded at 12th Street Sound include Foo Fighters, Gloriana, Lady Antebellum, Jason Boland, Reckless Kelly and Cory Morrow.”

Six winning artists will have a chance to work with Austin-born legend Britt – of SPOON fame – and be filmed for an upcoming documentary on the philanthropic endeavor by Converse.

The submission period for Texas artists (any and all artists who might be available to record in Austin during SXSW and own their tracks the moment they leave) to apply for free studio time is Wednesday, February 17th through Monday, March 7th. Artists can visit http://www.converse-music.com/rubbertracks/austin to apply.
