What do you do when you see a wealth of talented and creative Honky Tonk, Western Swing, Rockabilly and Outlaw musicians going unrecognized? Well, if you’re Texas Honky Tonk legend Dale Watson, you create the Ameripolitan Awards—and with them, a whole new music genre.

A bold move? You bet! But it’s paid off, as February 16th marks the third time the awards show will wow an audience. “It’s a rare and extraordinary opportunity to have musicians of this caliber all under the same roof for one night,” said Watson.

This year’s show at Austin’s historic Paramount Theatre will be hosted by another Texas icon: music legend and past Ameripolitan winner Ray Benson. Alongside Benson, celebrity presenters include Mike Wolfe of American Pickers and Todd and Don of KLBJ-AM with Sirius XM’s Dallas Wayne jumping into the announcer’s seat for another year.

Artists slated to perform at this year’s ceremony include Wanda Jackson, Billy Joe Shaver, James Hand, Doyle and Debbie, Georgette Jones, Justin Trevino, Rosie Flores, Whitey Morgan, Kim Lenz, Charlie Thompson, The Country Side of Harmonica Sam, Jason Roberts and Unknown Hinson.

As well as the artists, the awards also acknowledge Ameripolitan DJs and venues that promote these artists and their music thus keeping a tradition alive.
