Disney’s Frozen, the hit Broadway musical, will be at Austin’s Bass Concert Hall
June 5-16, 2024.

There are currently only four productions of Frozen playing around the world, including Tokyo, London and Hamburg, so this is a show you don’t want to miss! How lucky are we Texans?!

In Austin, Frozen will play Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35 and are available at texasperformingarts.org and BroadwayinAustin.com, by phone at (512) 477-1444, or from the Texas Performing Arts ticket office at Bass Concert Hall.

Born and bred in San Antonio, Preston Perez made his National Tour Debut in Broadway: A Beautiful Noise and Off- Broadway: The Bandaged Place (Roundabout). He’s a proud first-gen graduate who attended the North East School of the Arts and Texas State University. (Go Bobcats!!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Preston Perez. I am an actor originally from San Antonio, but currently living in New York City (when I’m not on tour with Frozen). And I received my BFA in Musical Theatre from Texas State University. Go Bobcats!

Why did you want to be involved in this production of Frozen?

The animated feature from 2013 is…iconic. I wanted to be a part of this production because I wanted to be a part of the Frozen legacy. It is a joy bringing this story to life for audiences across America.

How is this production bringing something new to this iconic story?

For starters, this production features 12 new songs not seen or heard in the movie! As well, it allows the audience to investigate the characters they already know and love on a deeper level.

What’s challenging about bringing this story to life?

From a technical perspective, eight shows a week is hard. The ensemble of this production does a lot of heavy lifting (literally) to make this a magical experience for the audience. But getting to see people’s faces light up while watching this production makes it well worth it.

What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage and the curtain goes up?

I can see my friend and cast mate Evan Duff across from me and we usually do some sort of dance or wave just before heading on. It’s a really big moment of gratitude for me. I’m reminded that I have the opportunity to do something I love with people I love, and it puts me in a gracious space to begin the show.

What is your favorite part of the performance?

The song “Love Is An Open Door”! It’s the hardest part of my show, but it’s my most present moment with Princess Anna. There’s so much trust between the two of us during that entire song, and it’s a really nice payoff at the end.

What did you learn about being on stage and working together with the other actors/actresses?

It’s no easy task doing eight shows a week, but my fellow actors/actresses bring 100% every time. Through them, I’ve learned how to show up for myself and for the ensemble I am part of every time too.
