Creek Views

When I first arrived at Creekhouse, I immediately loved the spacious outdoor patio, magnificent creek views and overall vibe. Regularly frequented by locals and tourists to this popular Texas Hill Country town, Creekhouse is a sweet spot that will soon be on your radar, if not already. You’re about to find out why this riverside restaurant is the new “it” place to check out in charming Wimberley.

Snag a table on the spacious deck and take in the ever-so-relaxing creek while you chow down. The large deck and views are a perfect photo op. You’re so close to the creek, you’ll feel like you’re actually on it.

Soul-Satisfying Food

I especially love Creekhouse’s wide variety of food on the menu. There’s something for everyone here, including your vegan and vegetarian friends. The expansive menu is full of great soul-satisfying food.

At Wimberley’s Creekhouse, snack on the Hill Country Hummus or The Southern Charcuterie: the dishes aren’t too filling, so you’ll have more room for the goodies still to come. Courtesy photo

Kick things off by snacking on the Hill Country Hummus. The veggies on the plate were super fresh, crunchy and paired perfectly together. Hummus at the store can sometimes taste processed and bland, but this one is homemade and flavorsome.

Move on to the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuits that are great for sharing with friends. They’re not too filling, so you’ll have more room for the goodies still to come.

To start, try the popular Cast Iron Queso Fundido, or be transported to New Orleans with a bite of the Nola BBQ Shrimp. The Southern Charcuterie is a classic if you want to play it safe.

I tried the Southern Fried Chicken Breast Sandwich; I can literally feel my mouth water as I think about it. The chicken is so crispy, juicy and flavorful. And yes, it’s better than a Popeyes’ chicken sandwich! It’s the perfect size to fill you up, not too big or small.

The Hippie Love Tacos are a great choice for your vegan friend. They weren’t too soft and had a really good texture. Make sure to grab a big bite full of mushrooms. The tortillas taste fresh while the mushrooms lack that oily taste that you’ll sometimes find in less well-prepared tacos.

For your sweet tooth, go for the Mexican Flourless Chocolate Cake. You really can’t go wrong with a warm chocolate brownie, strawberries and vanilla bean ice-cream. This combination were made for each other. The dark chocolate means the dish isn’t too sweet.

Delightful Drinks

Wash it all down with one of Creekhouse’s sophisticated cocktails, Texas-brewed beers, or fine wines that complement the menu’s hearty flavors. The Wimberley Way tastes fresh and floral, probably because of the hibiscus. Want something on the spicy side? The Ancient Roots might be just right for you.

Keep the Party Going

And when you’re done dining at this delightful Wimberley joint, walk off your meal down the guided pathway and sit by the creek to take in the sunset. When the fireflies come out, it looks just as beautiful at night.

If you still want to keep the party going, get your dancing shoes on and enjoy the night with some live music, or get your shopping on at one of the Wimberley Square shops nearby.
