#FoodieFriday: Wimberley Steps up its Culinary Game with Exclusive New Supper Club

My boyfriend and I decided to check out a swanky new spot for dinner in the quaint village of Wimberley, tucked between Austin and San Antonio in the gorgeous Blanco River Valley. After taking advantage of the snappy valet parking, we were greeted at the front door by a friendly hostess, ushered into the bar and seated in a very cozy booth.

The club feels very much like a 1940s French brasserie or old-style country club with dark wood furnishings, chandeliers and a luxurious ocean-emerald decor. There’s intimate seating in the bar, a larger, more open main dining room, and a back room that feels more speakeasy-esque with vintage mercury glass mirrors lining the walls. An attentive waitstaff team brought a complimentary relish tray and took our drink orders. I tried several different tasty cocktails throughout the night, but my boyfriend stayed true to his favorite, a stiff RR12 Old Fashioned, served very fancily from a smoke-filled decanter.

With its small-town charm and unexpected sophistication, Wimberley’s food scene is soaring to new heights with the addition of its newest fine dining experience. Set in a restored historic bungalow under wild oak trees, RR 12 Supper Club of Wimberley is located in downtown Wimberley Square at 13900 RR 12.

RR 12 Supper Club of Wimberley is open to the public Wednesdays-Saturdays, and will also honor the exclusive “Supper Club” tradition with a members-only night on Tuesday evenings (which is fabulous for Wimberley residents because most other restaurants are closed on Tuesdays).

And membership has its benefits…

> complimentary drinks and appetizers on Tuesdays

> $100 credit to explore their wine cellar monthly

> $200 dining credit quarterly

> special benefits and opportunities for birthdays, anniversaries and on holidays

In the traditional Supper Club style, each meal will begin with a complimentary relish tray. RR 12 Supper Club of Wimberley features top-of-the-line steak and seafood, and made-to-order menu highlights include starters like Parker House Rolls, Escargot en Croute, Imported Burrata, and a wide selection of caviar. The “From Our Grill” menu section boasts dry-aged Linz meats, wagyu cuts from Flying C Ranch and Westholme, lamb, veal and pork chops – all with premium add-ons including black truffles, foie gras, cold water tails and crab legs. Tableside experiences include fresh soups and salads, and grand seafood towers. Elevated dinner entrees feature Whole Branzino, Moulard Duck, Classic Coq Au Vin Blanco, Garganelli Carbonara, and more. Explore their full menu here

First of all, don’t skip the Parker House Rolls with cinnamon butter, maybe even get two orders. They are divine. For our night out, we had those rolls, of course, and then sampled the Deconstructed French Onion Soup and the RSC Caesar Salad. For our main course, we couldn’t pass up the “off the menu” Shrimp & Grits with Andouille sausage, and the silky Imported Garganelli White Bolognese pasta, which I highly recommend. We finished up our fancy dinner with an Over The Top Ice Cream Sundae served on a chilled marble tray with everything you could dream of in an ice cream sundae, including roasted mini marshmallows. We’ll definitely go back for that alone (and maybe the rolls).

RR 12 Supper Club of Wimberley concept was born from a group of Wimberley locals looking to bring a brand new dining experience and the very first members-only club to the Wimberley scene. RR 12 Supper Club of Wimberley is founded by Culinary Director and Executive Chef Mark Grimes and his wife Kimmie Dunlay, along with Phil and Peggy Collins, long-time Wimberley residents and investors.
