As we celebrate Black History Month, we want to shine a light on this black-owned business and its founder- a trailblazer in the beauty brand world.
Texas native Niye Aniekan-Attang is the founder and owner of Ace Beauté, a black woman-owned cruelty-free, Houston-based beauty brand that is best known for its ultra-pigmented, vibrant eyeshadows.
A Unique Look
Ace Beauté encourages everyone to experiment, play and create unique makeup looks, regardless of age, gender, skin-color, religion or socio-economic status. Originally specializing in false lashes, the beauty brand expanded into color cosmetics in 2017 with their best-selling “Quintessential Palette.” In 2018, a four-eyeshadow palette collection entitled the “Paradise Collection,” was released and proved to be another success. Other Ace Beauté products include luxe manicure false nails, glam lashes, face palettes, brushes and lip liner. Products are distributed internationally across North America, Africa, Europe and Australia.
When we caught up with Niye to discuss the story behind Ace Beauté, she told us that a few years into her career, she came to the realization that finance wasn’t an industry she saw herself staying in for the long run. She also realized she needed to find a career based in the beauty industry—her first love.
The Start of Ace Beauté
At that time, 2015, there was still a huge void in terms of the diversity and inclusion in many of the beauty products that were on the market. So Niye set out to start her own company. Her aim? To create an inclusive brand which would live up to its motto of “Beauty For All,” catering to everyone while still celebrating all our unique selves.
Today, says this entrepreneurial fashionista, “Ace Beauté is different from the other beauty brands out there because we create top quality products that catch the eye. From our packaging to our eyeshadow color stories, our products stand out.”
Owning a Beauty Brand
Being a business owner, especially in those early years, is never easy. However, there are still parts that can bring joy. For Niye, her favorite thing about having her own beauty brand is simple. “The times when we go through product development and we all get to play with makeup. It’s truly so much fun and speaks to my inner child.”
Looking to the future, Niye’s also excited about all the new product categories that Ace Beauté will be introducing in the near future.
Stay tuned, all your wannabe makeup artists. Clearly, there’s even more good stuff on the way!
