After experiencing profound personal loss, Lilit Muradyan transformed her journey of healing into a mission to help others through Licasa Treatment Center.

This past April, Lilit Muradyan turned her trauma into purpose with the opening of Licasa Treatment Center in Conroe, Texas. This is the clinic’s second location and allows them to serve Houston and surrounding communities by providing support for addiction and mental health challenges. Licasa Treatment Center’s original location is in Los Angeles.

Lilit moved from Russia to the U.S. at the age of 7 with the support of her parents and family throughout the transition. The experience helped her develop coping mechanisms and resilience that would later fuel her passion for helping others facing mental health challenges. 

“The experience alone, it taught me a lot… resilience, survival, and the emotional impact of starting over,” Lilit explained.

Through her own experiences and witnessing the struggles of others, Lilit developed a deep personal connection to those facing mental health challenges. “I’ve witnessed how many people silently struggle with trauma and addiction and grief and anxiety – mental health challenges – without having the right support system around them.”

Lilit’s husband died early in their marriage, fueling her desire to help those struggling with trauma and mental health challenges.

“My husband’s case was a homicide in front of our house, in front of me, in front of my child.”  

Even today, Lilit does not have answers. She met her husband through a mutual friend in 2009 and they married in 2012. He was a U.S. Marine veteran who served from 1997-2003. 

“When I lost my husband, I wasn’t expecting to do the work for the authorities in order to bring justice. I was expecting the authorities to bring justice.” 

Through this experience, she came to believe that those who served in the armed forces do not always get the attention, services, or the recognition they need after completing their military service.

After her husband’s death, Lilit tried individual therapy but found that it did not provide the healing she needed. She was speaking to just one person and remained afraid of being judged by others. Eventually, she began sharing her experiences in treatment center groups, which helped her let go of that fear.  “What helped me was being part of groups, and people speaking about their trauma. I was sharing my own experience, and that’s what helped me.”

Her husband’s death also motivated Lilit to help veterans. In 2016, she opened the Licasa Treatment Center in Los Angeles, which has one of the highest concentrations of homeless veterans in the nation. December 2026 will mark the center’s 10th anniversary. 

This year, Lilit decided to expand Licasa by opening a clinic in Conroe. Licasa had many clients from Texas coming to the treatment center in California to receive mental health care. 

“I saw that Texas communities are growing rapidly, yet many people still struggle with getting access to passionate and quality mental health care close to home.” 

After visiting Conroe three years ago, Lilit saw how the area was growing rapidly and had a need for mental health treatment centers. 

“With Licasa, our mission is not only recovery, it’s more so helping people discover confidence, stability, purpose, and peace within themselves. I believe healing happens when people feel seen, heard, and valued, and Licasa is the place for that.”

At Licasa, each client is treated based on individual life circumstances and health needs. Lilit said the client remains the focus at Licasa. She believes this is especially important in an industry where financial considerations can sometimes overshadow patient care. 

Licasa has an open-door policy and works to help all clients regardless of their insurance status or financial circumstances. “If I have to fully fund your recovery from my own pocket, that’s going to happen. You are going to get treated.” 

To ensure every employee understands the heart and purpose behind Licasa, Lilit personally hand-picks each member of her team. “You’re not there just to have a job, you’re there to support people in need. We’re not selling products. We’re helping individuals suffering through severe mental health issues.”

When asked about her legacy, Lilit said she wants to be remembered as “a person who was there for everybody, whether she benefited or not.”

Despite everything she endured, Lilit turned her pain into purpose. She also found happiness in her personal life, remarrying on July 4, 2025. “He’s with me every minute of the day. He fully supports me and has been nothing but a blessing. The fact that I can actually speak about my experience with him is a gift from God. Not every man has the security to seek out and listen to their wife speak about past experiences, especially involving your late husband.”
