Discover why The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach is one of Florida’s top Gulf Coast resorts, featuring beachfront suites, swim-up bars, family-friendly activities, waterfront dining, and unforgettable Emerald Coast sunsets.
Located just 20 minutes from the airport, The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach offers a seamless transition from travel mode to total relaxation. Set along the sugar-white sands of the Gulf, this beachfront escape delivers the perfect balance of laid-back luxury and coastal adventure.
Stay & Suites
Watching the sunset over the shoreline each evening was just one of the many perks of staying in a beachfront room. Video Madi Hise.
Accommodations range from stunning oceanfront rooms to swim-out suites, plus an expansive multi-bedroom suite that can host up to 14 guests, ideal for bachelorette parties or group getaways. With direct beach access, guests can step from their room straight onto the soft sand and into the crystal-clear water.
Beach Days & Poolside Bliss

Days here are best spent soaking up the Florida sunshine. Beach chair and umbrella rentals make it easy to settle in for a full day by the water, while kayaks and paddleboards offer a more active way to explore the Gulf. Families will appreciate the dedicated kids center, giving little ones their own fun-filled experience while adults enjoy the resort’s many amenities, including an impressive 23,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

The pool scene is just as inviting. Renting a private cabana is a must for those looking to elevate their stay, complete with poolside service from Cabana Cantina & Tequilaria. The Tijuana Caesar with chicken is a standout lunch option, perfectly paired with a margarita, crafted from a selection of over 50 tequilas. Don’t miss the Grotto, a guest-favorite pool feature with a lively swim-up bar. For a signature sip, the Island Girl cocktail is the ultimate beachside companion.
Dining

Dining at the resort is evolving with an exciting refresh. The main restaurant, Coastal Kitchen, is transitioning into Sea Oats, introducing a menu centered on elevated Southern cuisine. My personal favorites from the menu include Fried Green Tomatoes, Island Seafood Gumbo, and Steak Frites.
Breakfast is served daily, with both a full buffet and à la carte options available, making it easy to start the day at your own pace.

For something more casual, food trucks just outside the resort offer quick, satisfying bites. Sizzle and Smash serves up smash burgers and fries, while The Frosty Palm is known for its over-the-top milkshakes, some topped with full slices of cake or cheesecake and even available with a boozy twist.

Just steps away, The Crab Trap is the go-to spot for dinner with a view. Fresh oysters and blackened shrimp skewers pair perfectly with breathtaking Gulf sunsets, creating the perfect coastal dining experience.

There’s no shortage of ways to fill your days at the resort. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or recreation, the activity lineup offers something for everyone:

– Weekly yoga classes to start the day refreshed
– Live music throughout the week
– Interactive mixology classes
