A tropical dual-resort safari to Green Island, Jamaica, is exactly what the soul ordered. Set your out-of-office email, pack your bags, and head south to the island for overwater villas, custom rum flights, and a personalized schedule of pure vibe shifts.
Jamaica has always been an island of brilliant dualities—the misty heights of the Blue Mountains versus the neon-blue lagoons of Port Antonio; the rhythmic pulse of Kingston versus the languid sunset-watching in Negril. But historically, a traveler had to choose a lane. You either leaned into the quiet, candlelit romance of an adults-only sanctuary or dove headfirst into the colorful, high-energy splash of a family-centric resort.
On my recent trip to the pristine shores of Green Island, Jamaica, I discovered a masterclass in the “vibe shift” that completely discards the rulebook.
Nestled side-by-side are Princess Senses The Mangrove and Princess Grand Jamaica. Together, they form what I like to call a “Sister-Resort” Safari—a multi-generational, layered getaway where you don’t have to settle for just one energy when you can experience both for the price of a single flight.
Because Princess Senses The Mangrove is a dedicated adults-only sanctuary, full “Stay at 1, Play at 2” access belongs to Senses guests. Those staying at the family-friendly Princess Grand Jamaica enjoy their own massive footprint of amenities, with cross-property access tailored to specific age groups and room categories. For my stay, navigating between the two allowed me to enjoy a curated trip that felt entirely bespoke.
The Architecture of Comfort: From Swim-Out Luxury to Overwater Sanctuaries
Your choice of home base on this safari is the physical manifestation of the energy you want to ground your trip in.

For my stay, I checked into a Platinum Swim-Out Suite at Princess Grand Jamaica, which immediately proved that traveling with family doesn’t mean sacrificing an ounce of architectural sophistication. There is an absolute luxury to sliding open your floor-to-ceiling glass doors and stepping directly from your private terrace into a gorgeous, semi-private pool. It is a brilliant design element for multi-generational groups, allowing everyone to safely splash into the water within seconds of waking up, all while unlocking coveted Platinum privileges right out of the gate.

Curious about the alternative layouts on this side of the resort, I also toured the standard Princess Family Junior Suites. They are true masterclasses in functional joy—vibrant, spacious, and utilizing a clever “room within a room” layout. The immediate standout for anyone traveling with kids is the whimsical, boat-shaped bunk beds, thoughtfully complete with personalized miniature robes and slippers.

Later, I walked over to the adults-only Senses side of the resort to explore its distinct accommodation offerings. Here, the vibe shifts to an ultra-sleek, peaceful sanctuary. If you choose a standard stay on this side, the Deluxe Junior Suites deliver incredible modern comfort, while booking a Platinum Junior Suite secures an elevated level of personalized attention and exclusive lounge access.

However, if you are looking for the absolute pinnacle of adults-only indulgence, the resort’s spectacular Overwater Villas are a must-see. Bringing a Maldivian sense of luxury straight to the Caribbean, entering one feels like stepping into an isolated sanctuary of glass and natural wood. The crown jewel of the layout is a stunning glass floor insert that allows you to watch marine life drift casually beneath your feet, while the private outdoor decks are outfitted with an infinity-edge plunge pool and stunning turquoise ocean views.

Anatomy of the Vibe Shift: Embracing the Dual Energies
To truly appreciate what makes this dual-property layout so unique, you have to lean directly into the transition between them.

Mornings at Senses side are a quiet, unhurried affair. A peaceful breakfast on the outdoor terrace watching the morning light catch the water pairs perfectly with an energetic “Rhythm & Moves” dance class, or a serene swim in the Rooftop Infinity Pool, where the water seamlessly melts into the Caribbean horizon.

Yet, the true magic lies in the ease of the physical transition. Taking the short, scenic walk over to Grand reveals a fascinating experiential shift. The serene, adults-only “hush” of Senses slowly gives way to the upbeat, infectious rhythm of dancehall music and the bright laughter of families enjoying the sunshine.
This side of the resort is built for high-energy adventure, particularly during the peak of the afternoon heat when guests head to the Wild Princess Water Park. Watching travelers tackle the four thrilling water slides and massive, expansive pools, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the high-energy movement of the property.

As the sun dips lower, the rhythm shifts once more, pulling you back toward the sophisticated, evening pace of the adults-only side. Gathering for a beautifully crafted cocktail at the exclusive Platinum Club lounge before winding down for a spectacular dinner.
The Human Element & The Sanctuary of the Senses Spa
While the striking architecture provides the backdrop, it’s the human element that truly defined my stay. The hospitality across both properties manages to be both incredibly warm and meticulously professional. On the Senses side, the team operates with a quiet, observant grace—anticipating a refilled water or fresh towel before you even think to ask. Over at Grand, that energy seamlessly shifts into something high-octane, engaging, and brilliantly equipped to handle the fast-paced needs of vacationing families.

When you need a collective pause from the daytime excitement, the Senses Spa serves as the ultimate neutral ground of absolute tranquility. Their wellness philosophy is anchored deeply in Hydrotherapy. Before my facial even began, I indulged in a beautiful restorative circuit of water-based temperatures—moving from the deep heat of a steaming sauna to a refreshing experience shower, and a perfectly crisp cool plunge pool.

The treatment menu itself reads like a love letter to local Jamaican botanicals. I highly recommend booking the Blue Mountain Coffee Scrub; between the rich aroma of local coffee and a spa architecture that beautifully mirrors the surrounding mangrove forests, the entire experience feels rooted directly in the heart of nature.
Curated Creativity and a Passport for the Palate
Leaning into the resort’s creative programming is another effortless way to experience the resort’s distinct personal spaces. If you fine-tune your stay around a Friday, Senses guests can enjoy a complimentary, wonderfully relaxing Paint & Sip class. However, if you are traveling with a mixed, multi-resort group across both properties, you can easily have the resort arrange a private, custom canvas session for your party upon request to bring everyone together.

With numerous unique bars scattered across the resort, the transition from day to night naturally becomes a fun, curated cocktail crawl. My daytime vibe centered around the Rooftop Infinity Bar at the Senses Platinum Club, where the mixology menu shines with refreshing, botanical infusions like fresh hibiscus foam. When night falls, the adventure shifts toward the resort’s speakeasy-style lounges, which provide a wonderfully moody, intimate contrast to the tropical daytime brightness—perfect for settling in with a late-night Jamaican rum flight.
Because dining privileges vary elegantly based on your specific booking tier, planning your culinary itinerary is key. Senses Platinum guests enjoy access to both Platinum Club venues; Grand Platinum guests have access to the exclusive Grand Platinum Club restaurant and bar.
During my culinary explorations across the properties, a few standout spots emerged as absolute must-visits:
1. The Platinum Club (Senses): Widely considered the pinnacle venue for an upscale evening on the property, this exclusive restaurant delivers exceptional fine dining with a distinct Mediterranean soul, paired with flawless, white-glove service and is exclusive to Senses Platinum guests.

2. K-A Teppanyaki Restaurant (Senses): For pure entertainment, this interactive Asian fusion spot turns dinner into a show, with chefs who are as much talented performers as they are culinary experts.
3. Jamrock Restaurant (Grand): If you are craving local flavors, this gem serves up authentic, incredibly rich Jamaican cuisine.

4. The Food Truck Area (Grand): The ultimate casual equalizer. Whenever I wanted something quick and deeply satisfying between pool sessions, I headed here for hot, flaky, authentic Jamaican beef and chicken patties steps away from the ocean.
The “Platinum” Standard: Upgrading Your Experience
If you want to experience this safari at its absolute peak, upgrading to the Platinum Club tier is, in my opinion, the equivalent of flying first class. From the moment you arrive, you bypass standard lines with a seamless, private check-in experience inside a dedicated lounge stocked with premium spirits. It also grants you access to beautifully tranquil, “Platinum-only” beach and pool zones.

But the true game-changer of the Platinum upgrade is The Butler Component. From the second I unpacked, having a certified butler felt like having a personal Safari Guide. Whether it’s expertly securing prime reservations at the à la carte restaurants across both properties, coordinating spa times, or handling the minor details of my day, it completely removes the logistical friction of travel.

One Stay, Infinite Versions of You

We often take trips to “find ourselves,” but what I loved most about this dual-resort concept is that it honors the fact that we aren’t just one static person when we travel.
The multi-generational layout acts as a brilliant release valve for different energy levels. Grandparents can enjoy the quiet, uninterrupted luxury of an Overwater Villa at Senses, while the nuclear family stays right in the thick of the action at Grand. The magic happens in the shared spaces, respecting individual boundaries while celebrating collective time.
Depending on the hour, you might be the professional seeking absolute, uninterrupted silence by a rooftop pool, the parent wanting to create core memories with family, or the adventurer chasing the fiery heat of a scotch bonnet pepper at a beachside jerk hut.
By strategically utilizing the shared layout and leaning into the natural vibe shifts of Princess Senses and Princess Grand, you don’t just get a singular vacation—you get to experience the full, magnificent spectrum of the Jamaican spirit, all without ever having to pack your bags for a second flight.
