As the calendar changes to May, the excitement over summer concerts and festivals begins to rise, as fans count down to the likes of Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and the 50th anniversary of Woodstock.
In Texas, though, fans need only wait until May 10, at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, to see a great line up of some of their favorite acts. KAABOO Texas is much more than a typical summer music festival, however. This entertainment experience brings three days of music plus world-class, hilarious comedy, incredible cuisine, craft libations and more to north Texas.
KAABOO, first launched in 2015 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, has since expanded into a three-day festival, and featured giant acts such as Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons and Jimmy Buffet. Not just a regional event, KAABOO Cayman took place in February, drawing fans to the shores of the Caribbean islands. 2019 marks the inaugural Texas event.
One of the key ingredients of KAABOO is the music, and the packed lineup has artists for everyone. The Killers and Lionel Richie are headliners for Friday night, May 10. Fans can also see Ms. Lauren Hill, or revisit the 90’s with the sounds of Alanis Morrissette and Bush. Saturday brings a little something for southern rock enthusiasts as Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd take the stage. The weekend music experience may conclude on Sunday, but not before Sting closes an amazing weekend filled to the brim with talent.
Expanding beyond music, the KAABOO lineup of comedians will only add to your entertainment with plenty of laughs all weekend long. Whether you enjoy the witty political comedy from Dennis Miller, the “anything goes” comedy of Brad Garrett, or the deadpanned jokes of Demetri Martin, KAABOO is sure to satisfy every sense of humor. Also on the comedy bill are Jim Breuer of “Half Baked” fame, Whitney Cummings, and the very funny comedy duo “Garfunkel and Oates.”
When hunger strikes, Palate answers the call. Palate is what the organizers’ are boldy calling an “upscale culinary experience,” featuring a wide variety of vendors including Dang Brother Pizza, Stoked Poke and Austin’s own Torchy’s Tacos. Palate also offers a wide variety of libations from 14 Hands, Hornitos Tequila and Maker’s Mark. After dinner, you may wish to explore the extensive KAABOO art exhibits–ranging from murals to galleries. Featured artists are Amandalynn, Ariel Gold and Brett Crawford.
Steven Jones, CEO of the Dallas Cowboys, describes KAABOO Texas as “a chance for people from all over the world, football fan or not, to experience AT&T Stadium through an incredible live entertainment event.”
