Tis’ the season (and the weather) for slower afternoons with patio dining.

And there is no better place to revel in the cooler temperatures than Karbach Brewing Co. Enjoy a drink, some good conversation, and an amazing meal in their large outdoor biergarten or patio area and—if you must—there’s indoor seating available as well.

Known for their large assortment of craft beers, Karbach Brewing Co. was founded in Houston in 2011 and has rapidly grown since. In 2015, an expansion to the brewery was completed, and much to the delight of Houstonians, an on-site restaurant opened. In the biergarten, guests can enjoy an assortment of outdoor games (think cornhole and washers), catch a game on the large outdoor screens, or enjoy live music on the weekends. Beer fans can also get a guided tour of the brewery where they can watch 27,000 cans being filled per hour and marvel at the towering structures that hold 200,000 gallons of brew per vessel.

The Karbach brewery has a lot to offer its guests, but what will keep them coming back for more is the delicious food. Karbach Restaurant + Patio’s mission is to create food that not only pairs well with beer, but is also made with it. Executive Chef David Branch works hard to ensure that each dish has some tasty brew included in the ingredients.

“I use beer in batters, in sauces and in marinades,” said Branch. “Houston is a melting pot and such a mixture of cultures; we like to think that our restaurant and beer menu are the same. We have a beer and a dish for everyone.”

There are several items on the menu that are so popular they are considered staples, like the Korean Fried Chicken. Bite-sized pieces of chicken covered in sweet chili glaze, they are spicy and delicious. Another popular menu item is the Karbach Burger, which consists of a 44 Farms patty on a locally made challah bun, smothered with bacon aioli.

“One of my favorite dishes to make is the Beer Can Chicken,” said Branch. “It is such a classic recipe that responds really nicely to the beer flavors. In this dish you get to taste three different Karbach beers. One in the chicken, one in the Hopadillo BBQ sauce and one in the Crawford Bock beans that come on the side.”

Aside from all the tasty treats, Karbach Brewing Co. also does a lot for the community. A portion of the proceeds from several of their beers go to charitable organizations such as the Astros Foundation, Gulf Coast Conservation and The Robert Gardner Foundation. The brewery also prides itself on being sustainable – all of the brewing is powered by solar power. Great beer, good food and socially conscious — Karbach makes it easy to feel good about everything they have to offer.
