Beyond retreats, daily activities allow guests to connect with the natural world and themselves. Forest bathing, garden meditations, and bird walks provide moments of quiet reflection, while water-based experiences like the signature Blue Mind Paddle, Wild Water sessions, and AquaStretch myofascial underwater massage combine wellness science with the calming effects of being on the water. While our visit brought overcast skies and light rain, it created a different kind of magic encouraging us to lean into indoor offerings like the Healing with Water aqua stretch session, held in a heated pool and designed to relieve tension, improve mobility, and promote deep relaxation.

Fitness and movement classes are equally engaging. Strong Foundations, a dynamic circuit-style class, got our heart rates up (thanks to our high-energy trainer who had us calling him “Sarge”), while Mindful Stretch offered a slower, more intentional experience focused on deep, restorative stretching. A dedicated stretching class became one of our favorite ways to reset, leaving us both challenged and completely relaxed.

Wellness, Dining, and Accommodations

The resort’s 25,000-square-foot LakeHouse Spa offers an impressive array of treatments, from facials and body scrubs. A standout experience was the Weekend Warrior deep tissue massage with Megan—a 70-minute sports therapy treatment that was exactly what my body needed. Not only was the massage incredibly effective, but she also took time afterward to share personalized tips I could bring home, adding lasting value to the experience.

Before any treatment, guests are invited to unwind in the serene Blue Room lounge. True to its name, the space is bathed in calming shades of blue, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and mentally prepare for your service.

Accommodations are equally restorative. The lake view rooms, with their cozy beds, expansive windows, and private patios outfitted with Adirondack chairs, offer a front-row seat to the peaceful beauty of Lake Austin. Waking up to that view feels both grounding and indulgent, a small luxury that defines the stay.

Dining at Lake Austin Spa Resort is an experience in itself. Guests enjoy three thoughtfully prepared meals daily, each crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. One standout dish was the cod paired with creamy mashed potatoes and a hint of truffle. For an extra-special evening, dining alfresco at the Arbor is a must. With lakeside views and live music on select nights, it’s the perfect setting to savor a delicious meal while soaking in the relaxed, scenic atmosphere.
