Want to get away to a tropical vacation but don’t have much time? Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Bay, California, has everything to make you feel like you have escaped to a lush and romantic paradise.
When most people see a three-day vacation on the calendar, their first thought should be “where can I go to get away?” That’s not a lot of travel time, but I want to get away somewhere different. The Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Bay – near San Diego, CA – is just the right location, with the perfect accommodations to make it a relaxing getaway.
Located on a 14-mile peninsula, the Bahia Resort Hotel has miles of sandy beaches set alongside lush, tropical gardens that make you feel as if you are miles away from nowhere. With many options for dining, activities and relaxation, you won’t need to leave the property to get a proper vacation.
Beachfront Accommodations
Choose a bay front room with views of the pristine Mission Bay and steps away from white, sandy beaches. Rooms have been recently updated and many come with a suite option to allow guests to enjoy coffee on their patios in the morning and sunset toasts in the evening.
Relaxing Activities
Although San Diego does have a lot to offer, the Bahia Resort Hotel has something for everyone’s activity level. Curl up with a good book on one of many available beach cabanas while watching the waves gently lap the beach on the bay. The pool offers yummy handmade cocktails, snacks and live music to get the warm-weather vibes started.
Water-activities like kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing and more are available for rent. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the peaceful waters of the bay. Guests can rent bicycles to tour the local beach scene along Mission Bay and Pacific Beach. And beach toys are complimentary at the front desk if you’d like to play some games in the sand.
Walking through the lush, tropical gardens provides a serene moment to relax while on vacation. Take a peek at the two rescued harbor seals – Gracie & Billy – who are permanent guests of the hotel. Both were relocated to the Bahia Resort Hotel after being blinded in separate accidents and it was deemed they could not survive in the wild. It’s great fun to watch them frolicking and playing in the waters.
The activities don’t stop when the sun goes down. Guests are invited to take a sunset cruise around Mission Bay on the Bahia Belle. This Mississippi-style sternwheeler has three stories to take in the views and enjoy the fresh air on the leisurely 45-minute cruise. Reserve a spot for a beachside bonfire and smores. Or just gather on the beach with a glass of champagne to toast the “Magic Hour “- when the sun dips down into the bay and everything turns golden.
Romantic Dining
Dine at Dockside 1953, a top restaurant in Mission Bay at the Bahia Resort Hotel. Tables outside feature unobstructed views of the sunset, providing a romantic dining experience. The California-inspired cuisine features creative salads, seafood, and steak. Dockside 1953 is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast sandwiches and gourmet coffee can be found at the fun Airstream trailer located by the front desk. And one can enjoy lunch salads and sandwiches poolside as well.
The Bahia Resort Hotel is the ideal spot for a weekend get-away to the beach. It has the perfect combination of relaxation and activities that gives you just what you need to feel recharged….at least until you need another weekend away.
